About Trinks-Trinks

Johanna Döring and Matthias Fridel are both lecturers at the University of Geisenheim. Their field of expertise is research with a focus on organic viticulture. In 2009 they bought a dilapidated weingut in Geisenheim and renovated it. The family that sold the weingut also owned a small area of vineyard. These vineyards had been in the family for over 100 years. Until 1970, wine was also made in the weingut with grapes from these vineyards. As teachers at the renowned wine university, Johanna and Matthias could not resist the temptation and in 2013 they also took over the vineyards. In 2014 they made their first crop there. The surface of only 1.2 hectares is spread over various plots in and around Geisenheim. They work completely organically and all work in the vineyard is done by hand. The grapes from the different plots are vinified separately. At Trinks-trinks, only Riesling wines are made.

Through controlled oxygen supply, slow fermentation and long contact with the yeasts, characteristic and powerful wines are created. The wines are bottled at the earliest in the summer after the harvest and are then aged for at least 2 months in the bottle. The wines have their own character and aging potential.
