Theory
Taking the WSET level 1 course offers you an introduction to the world of wine. In the lessons we discuss the main grape varieties, the different wine styles and the regions where the grapes are grown. In the second lesson of this course we will also focus on making succesful food and wine pairings.
All theoretical knowledge you need to pass the exam can be found in the supplied study book and study guide. The textbook is not thick, but very condensed. Every paragraph contains relevant information.
Tasting
In the two lessons we will make a start with the systematic tasting of wine. Your teacher will take you step by step through the tasting technique that becomes slightly more extensive with each successive level of the WSET courses. We start with the basics here, so that every student can familiarize themselves with this method in a comfortable way. Wine tasting is not part of the exam at this level.
Exam
The exam of the WSET level 1 in wine course consists of 30 multiple choice questions. Of these, at least 21 must be answered correctly to pass. We give the opportunity to take a resit at least twice a year.
