Theory
The WSET Level 1 course offers you a first introduction to the world of wine. We discuss the main grape varieties, the different wine styles and the areas where the grapes are grown. In the second lesson there is extensive attention for making successful wine-food combinations. You will find all the theoretical knowledge you need to pass the exam in the included study book and study guide. The textbook is not thick, but well filled with concise and relevant information. With that you still have a reasonable amount of knowledge to take in.

Tasting
In these two lessons you will start with the systematic tasting of wine. Your teacher takes you step by step through the tasting technique, which becomes more and more extensive with each successive level of the WSET courses. At Level 1 we really start with the basics, so that you can master this method in a comfortable way. Wine tasting does not count towards the exam at this level.

Exam
The exam of the WSET Level 1 course in Wine consists of 30 multiple choice questions. You must answer at least 21 correctly to pass. If you fail to do so, you have the opportunity to resit at least twice a year.
