WSET Level 2

Do you already have some basic knowledge, are enthusiastic about wine, or are you professionally involved in it? Then the WSET Level 2 wine course is the right choice for you.

What can I expect?

NB: We geven deze cursus ook in het Nederlands.

The WSET Level 2 course is perfect for wine enthusiasts and professionals who already have some foundational knowledge and want to expand it. During the WSET Level 2 wine course, you will gain a comprehensive overview of the world of wine. We cover the main grape varieties, different wine styles, and the regions where these grapes are grown. We also delve into grape cultivation and the winemaking process.

Wine tasting

Although blind tasting is not yet part of the exam at this level, WSET’s systematic tasting method receives significant attention. Your WSET-certified instructor will guide you step by step in becoming familiar with this analytical way of evaluating different wines. To understand what we taste and where certain flavors come from, we continuously connect the theory from the study book with what we find in our glass.

At Amsterdam Wine Academy, you will taste a broad range of wines, from top-quality wines to those commonly found in supermarkets. This helps you assess the quality of each wine and independently judge the style and quality of the wine in your glass.

We offer more classroom hours than WSET prescribes to ensure better preparation for the exam. This is reflected in our very high pass rate (around 98%) at this level.

After the WSET Level 2 course you will be familiar with:

Studymaterial and exam

All theory for the exam is found in the study book and study guide. Your educator will ask you to read a few chapters to prepare for the next lesson. Allocate about two hours per week to study the course material. The study book is compact but contains concise and relevant information.

Exam: the WSET Level 2 exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions. You need to answer at least 28 correctly to pass. If you do not pass, you can retake the exam at least twice a year.
