Wouter Aalst WA
Wouter is the founder and head wine educator of the Amsterdam Wine Academy. He is a graduated Weinakademiker at the Weinakademie Ostereich and a holder of the WSET Diploma (level 4). Besides Amsterdam Wine Academy Wouter is owner of wine bar Paskamer and co-owner of bistro Fete de Soul, both in Amsterdam. Wouter has researched the Chianti Classico region and developped a special interest in Sangiovese based wines.
Jeroen Simons DipWSET
Jeroen lives and works in Amsterdam. He works as a sommelier at Café de Klepel in the Jordaan and has completed his WSET level 4 Diploma Course a few years ago. In addition to his work as a sommelier, Jeroen will help this summer in a new vineyard and winemaking project called wine garden Ronja. In his wine preference quite strongly francophile, but actually any honest wine with soul and sense of origin is beautiful.
Linda van der Helm
Linda lives and works in Amsterdam, besides her work at winebar Paskamer she also volunteers at a vineyard and writes about wine. She is very interested in rare grapes and wineregions, but is also passionate about riesling. Linda has passed her WSET-3 with ‘distinction’ in 2020 and is very enthusiastic about sharing her knowledge as an educator with you!
Dennis van Galen
Dennis already made a school paper about wine when he was 10 years old. The wine flame really took off on his first WSET course. He has now successfully completed WSET level 3 and is filling every possible moment in his life (and space at home) with wine and what goes with it. For him, nothing beats visiting winemakers and gaining exciting wine experiences. Dennis runs CREA, the cultural center of the UvA and HvA (including café), and thus combines art, culture and wine. A cosmopolitan wine omnivore with a fascination for what is now made of wine in the Netherlands.
Goos van den Berg. DIP WSET
Goos discovered his love for wine while working in the hospitality industry in Utrecht and Amsterdam. During that period he became a ‘Register Vinoloog’ at the ‘Wijnacademie’ and successfully completed the WSET diploma course. He thinks the great thing about the wine world is that you never stop learning and that there is always something new to discover. He won the international Copa Jerez in 2017 and therefore likes to drink a glass of sherry. He is also a big fan of Champagne, German Riesling and Syrah from the Northern Rhône.
Arend-Jaap van de Lely WA
Arend-Jaap (A-J) is the owner of Wijn op Dronk, importer of boutique wines from France, Germany, Italy, Australia and New Zealand. Wijn op Dronk’s customers are fine dining restaurants, wine bars and wine-lovers. Arend-Jaap is a WSET diploma graduate and a Weinakademiker. His thesis was on a study on pinot from the Ahr, Germany and Central Otago, New Zealand. As Robert Parker, A-J is a lawyer. After a legal career of 20 years he has turned his passion into a job.
Martin de Pee
Martin is a wine enthusiast through and through. Longing for more knowledge about wine and food, he obtained the SVH Gastronome / Sommelier diploma (in which WSET Level 3). He gladly put his knowledge into practice at wine bar Paskamer. Martin is happy when he can talk about wine, gets enthusiastic when he tastes something beautiful or surprising and has a soft spot for beautiful dry wines from Chenin Blanc.
Dorine van den Elzen
For about 15 years, Dorine has been living and working as “De Wijnjuf Curaçao” on Curaçao. She is a Registered Vinologist from the Dutch Wine Academy and also passed her WSET3 level in 2019. Like Linda, she has a preference for special grape varieties, specifically those from Piemonte. Each year, she organizes a wine trip for her Caribbean wine students to this great wine region. From May 1, 2021, Dorine will provide WSET Courses in the Caribbean in cooperation with the Amsterdam Wine Academy.
